Future Litter Plans 2026
Due to a busy season for our family, I won't be expecting very many litters from now (August 2026) until next summer. I may have 1 litter this December. I already have a very full waitlist, so I am not adding anyone more to my waitlist at this time. Best of luck in your search and thank you for your interest in an Elk Ridge Corgi!

How we Raise our Puppies

From Birth to 9 Weeks

Picture
Our Corgi puppies are raised with constant attention and care. We keep a close eye on each litter and monitor their growth daily.  Our interactions with these puppies begin at birth with frequent checking and holding. By 2 days old, we begin Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) consisting of 5 daily exercises for each puppy. This method was developed originally by the US military for their future canines, and it has proven to produce puppies that are smarter, better able to handle stress and change, and with better immune systems. We continue this daily handling until the puppies are 14-16 days old or are opening their eyes.

This is a testimony from one of my puppy buyers (who brought home two puppies) when we were talking about the difference ENS makes.
"I am amazed at how well they're doing already! Especially with the other dogs too! You did such a great job getting them ready for their forever homes!! (ENS) makes a huge difference!! It's as if they've been with us their whole lives already!"

At 3-4 weeks old once the puppies are beginning to walk, we introduce a litter box of pine pellets. We begin placing them in the box after they wake from naps and if we notice them starting to go. Within a week they are usually 90% poop trained, and 50-60% pee trained for the box. And it continues to improve as they grow. By the time they go home they 100% poop in the box and are 85-90% pee trained in the box. This can be super helpful for those who want to wait to outdoor potty train till their bladders are a little larger. And in general, from the very beginning, it trains the puppies that there are designated potty spots and that they can't just go anywhere they want. It engrains cleanliness in them from the beginning. And my puppy families report regularly how potty training their puppies was a BREEZE thanks to this start!

Once the puppies are old enough, we begin to introduce different smells, sounds and sights.  We will daily pet and socialize them and ensure they are growing properly and hitting milestones. When the weather allows, the litter is taken on field trips around our property to introduce them to different areas, walking surfaces, and experiences. Early exposure to the outdoors, dust, grass etc, has been proven to reduce allergies in the future for the dogs. So we try to do this around 4 weeks old, if the weather permits.

We begin training not to nip around 6 weeks old, and around 7 weeks we introduce a crate into the pen so they can get used to sleeping in it and learn that a crate is a safe place. At 7-8 weeks we take them to our vet for exams and their first vaccines. De-wormings are given regularly by us at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks.

In addition to all of this. Photos and videos are taken weekly and posted in my Flickr account, which everyone on my waitlist has access too. I always try to take a couple minutes worth of video several times a week to upload and share with my waitlist so that they can see the puppy's interact and gauge their personalities.

By 7 weeks of age, the mother has generally weaned the litter and they are eating solid foods. We still allow the mother to play with and be around her puppies as she desires, as this helps with bite inhibition and general manners. Mama dogs are so good at telling puppies when they're being a bit "too much."

Once the litter is 9 weeks old, we will start allowing them to meet their new families!

We take great care in providing you with the best possible furry best friend, and we invest so much time into planning our litters, health testing our breeding dogs, and vetting our future families. We just want the best possible experience for the puppy and for the new puppy family!

Once you bring your new best friend home, we are always available for any questions that may arise. We provide support for life and hope to be updated periodically on your puppy's progress. And we require that if anything were to come up in the future where you were no longer able to care for your puppy, that he/she be returned to us so we can find a proper home.

Adoption Process

Picture
We ask that each prospective puppy buyer outline their lifestyle and particular needs and wants in a dog as well as sex and temperament preferences. Once we approve that you will be a good fit, we move forward to adding you to our waitlist. You will be required to sign our waitlist contract and place a waitlist deposit of $200 which goes toward the full purchase price of your puppy.

Our policy is to place names on a waiting list in the order in which we receive the waitlist deposit. You may stay on the waitlist as long as you like until you meet your perfect puppy! Each year we require an additional $100 deposit to keep your name on the list, to ensure our waitlist is always up to-date. And each additional deposit will also go towards the purchase price of your puppy.

Once a litter is born and reaches 6 weeks old, we will contact those on our waiting list to begin the adoption/selection process in the order in which you were placed on the list. Each person has the option when contacted to choose a puppy or wait for another litter.

Once a selection is made we require a deposit of $500 (if you have previously sent a $200 waitlist deposit) $700 if not. Once this deposit is received via check, Venmo, Zelle or Paypal and a Corgi puppy is selected, it is a commitment and is therefore non-refundable. Puppies will stay with the litter until they reach 9 of age and have been fully weaned. We will be in touch with you to arrange a pick-up date, at which time the full adoption fee will be due in cash or Zelle.

We update our Flickr account weekly with photos and videos as your puppies grow so you can watch them mature! We do not allow visitors until the puppies have had their first vaccine at 7-8 weeks old. Parvo is especially prevalent in wet states, and we don't want to take ANY chance of bringing this virus to puppies who have not had a vaccine for it yet.
